The Liebster Award: Discover New Blogs

I just want to start of by thanking Brittany Ledyard of Rebel Lux for nominating me for the Liebster Award!

The Liebster Award is an honor that is passed from one new blogger to others who need more readers. In a blog post, you must answer 10 questions and provide a link to the person who nominated you. Then you nominate 10 new blogs and pose them 10 new questions of your own. It’s an amazing idea that benefits new bloggers by providing exposure and a solid network of fellow bloggers.

I am nominating these great up-and-coming creatives:

• Mark of From the Side-Line
• Kathleen of Kathleen's Closet
• Carlyn of Off The Sidewalk
• Allie of Sincerely, Bugs
• Debbie of The Hungover Widow
• Alyssa of Alyssa Racquel
• Jennifer of Jennifer Dawn
• Kelanie of The Sharpen Experiment

I’m asking them these 10 questions:

1. Who is your favourite blogger?
2. What do you enjoy the most about blogging?
3. How did you choose your blog niche and name?
4. Who has inspired you the most in your life and why?
5. What song/album would be the soundtrack of your life?
6. What do you hope to be doing in 5 years time?
7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
8. If you could ask one person one question and be guaranteed a honest answer, who would you ask and what would the question be?
9. If you could have any celebrity be a subscriber and regular reader of your blog, who would it be and why?
10. If you could go on a travel photography trip to anywhere in the world for free, where would you go?

Why do you blog?
Quite simply, because it makes me happy. It has also been a really great way to make sure I make time in my life for my favourite hobby, photography.

What do you do when you’ve hit a creative block and you need some inspiration?
Whenever i'm struggling to think of which part of london I would like to photograph next, I turn to google maps.

What is your favourite way to network with other bloggers?

I'd have to say Facebook. I haven't had the opportunity to attend any blogging events and I find the character restriction of Twitter irritating!

What famous creative, living or dead, would you most like to meet? (This could be a painter, illustrator, filmmaker, photographer, graffiti artist, anything.)
This has got to be Stephanie Sinclair, she is a photographer for National Geographic and her photographs are phenomenal! I would love to talk to her about photography and her experiences working for national geographic. You can find her Instagram account here: Stephanie Sinclair

What do you love most about the place you live?
I live in London and I really love that it is the greenest city in Europe. I have already written a blog post on this which you can read. For me, this is one of the best things about London because you get all of the benefit of living in a big city, but there are also numerous green spaces to escape to when you need a break from the quick pace of life.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Are you doing that now?

I think as a child I wanted to either be an author or a doctor, and I am definitely neither of these now! Instead, having just finished my MSc, i'm about to join the civil service.

What’s the story behind your blog’s name?
I'd not been living in London long and as i'm originally from a small village, I felt a bit lost living in this big city. I started my blog to motivate me to explore my new home and with london feeling so big to me, I called it The Big L.

Do you have a favorite app that you’d recommend to other creatives?
I really like to use the app PIXLR to edit some of the photos I post of Instagram.

What’s the biggest thing you’d like your blog to achieve in the next 12 months?
I would like my blog to reach more people and to remain committed to my Thursday posts.

Name your top 3 favourite blogs to read.

The Londoner - Of course Rosie has to be one of them, she is an amazing lifestyle blogger in London and I love to read her posts on bars and restaurants around the city!

Anna in Wonderland - Anna Scanlon's blog is a favourite of mine as her blog covers so many interesting topics, I have especially loved her posts on blogging and self publishing a novel!

From the Side-Line - Its the only sports blog i've ever encountered and I love it!

Thanks for reading, and to those of you who i've nominated, I look forward to reading your answers!
