Getting inspired at South Bank

On Tuesday my boyfriend (Mark) and I had tickets to Carsten Höller interactive art show, Decision, at the Southbank Centre. We headed to South Bank for the day, and again I was blessed with good weather!

Since it opened there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the show, particularly in London, and for us it really did live up to the hype.

We started by entering into the show through a pitch back tunnel, which separates the outside world and the exhibition itself. We took our time in the gallery, taking it all in and generally having a good time.

Then once we had finished browsing the show we set off walking down the river bank, which was filled with just as much inspiring art and creativity

South bank is such a vibrant part of London, which I absolutely love! It's a hub of people having fun and a place for free expression

Of all the art I saw on Tuesday, I have to say I think my favourite was courtesy of @tomcoxart Until there is none left. The nature of this piece of art and its location makes it feel so much more authentic and honest. Please go and check him out on Instagram as his work is incredible and underappreciated!

Whilst looking back over the photos I took this week I learnt my first major lesson about urban photography. Whilst I was wandering down the river bank I strolled along with Mark taking photos in crowded places and I forgot a critical rule of urban photography which is intended for sharing online;  bystanders should not be easily identifiable within your photos without their permission. Unfortunately many of my photos included people's easily identifiable faces, for which I did not have permission to take and therefore could not use for this post. Trust me, i've learnt my lesson!

If you're visiting London for the first time I would definitely recommend visiting South Bank and if you're a frequent visitor or a Londoner too, don't forget to stop by from time to time, it's a great place to remind yourself how beautiful and inspiring London can be.

See you next week,

Becky xx
